Illu pharynx
  • Pharynx is a hollow space at the back of the throat and delivers food to the stomach along with esophagus.
  • Pharynx (Throat) is the common passageway for air, food, and liquid and participates in swallowing (passageway where pathway for air and food cross).

Extra Notes:

Mouth along with nasal passages lead to the pharynx and pharynx opens into the food passage called esophagus and main air passage called trachea (windpipe).

Esophagus connects the pharynx to the stomach. It is a hollow muscular tube consisting of both skeletal and smooth muscle.

Trachea (windpipe) is the main trunk of the respiratory tree. This tube extends from the larynx to the bronchi; and the passageway for air to the lungs. It is also known as the windpipe.
