Nerve cell: The structural and functional unit nervous system is called nerve cell e.g. neuroglia and neurons (neurons are actually cytoplasmic extension of nerve cell and neuroglia are the supporting cells to the neuron).

The group (bundle) of nerve cells (i.e. neurons and neuroglia) is called nervous (i.e. nerve) tissue.enlightened
