Glomerular Filtration
The formation of urine involves three processes: (1) glomerular filtration, (2) tubular reabsorption, and (3) tubular secretion.
Glomerular filtration is the first step in urine formation which depends on blood pressure (BP), capsular hydrostatic pressure (CHP), and blood colloid osmotic pressure (BCOP).
It filters protein-free plasma fluid and solutes (water, amino acids, ions, bicarbonate, glucose, and waste products i.e., urea, creatinine) from the glomerular capillaries into Bowman’s capsule.
