Microinjection is a direct physical method of inserting the foreign gene having desirable characters in the target cell by injecting the DNA directly into the nucleus by a micro needle. It is used for transfer of cellular organelles and for manipulation of chromosomes. Some of the limitations of this method are it is slow, expensive and requires skilled and trained personnel.
