The biomolecules found in the living systems can be grouped into two classes:

  1. Micromolecules: Including small molecules up to 30 carbon atoms and having a molecular weight of 100-1000 Daltons. These include vitamins and minerals
  2. Macromolecules or biomacromolecules: Large molecules having a very high molecular weight. These include proteins, starch.
