Leading strand is the DNA strand that synthesize in the same direction (5’-3’) in which the replication fork moves during replication.

Lagging strand is the DNA strand that synthesize in the opposite direction to that in which the replication fork moves during replication.

During the replication of lagging strand “Okazaki fragments” are formed i.e. it is discontinuous process, whereas replication of leading strand is continuous process.
