Root is the vegetative part of the plant body which is cylindrical, non-green part buried in the soil. This fixes the plant deep into the soil and absorbs water and soil nutrients needed for the plant. It is negatively phototropic and positively geotropic and hydrotropic part. There are three types of root system they are; (i) Tap root (ii) Fibrous root (iii) Adventitious root.
