DIFFERENCES BETWEEN RESPIRATION AND PHOTOSYNTHESIS

                    Photosynthesis

                         Respiration

1.

It is the energy storing process into sugar molecules

It is the energy releasing process from the sugar molecules.

2.

The photosynthesis is restricted to the organisms whose cells possess chlorophyll.

Respiration takes place in all living organisms.

3.

It takes place in the chloroplast.

It takes place in the cytoplasm and Mitochondria.

4.

It is a light dependent process.

It does not depend upon the presence or absence of light.

5.

It liberates oxygen in the green organisms.

It utilizes the oxygen.

6.

It increases the weight of the organism.

It decreases the weight of organisms.

7.

It converts light energy to usable form.

The usable form of energy stored during photosynthesis is released by respiration.
