The symbiotic nitrogen fixation is a type of fixation taking place in the living organisms. It is a symbiotic relationship which is mutually beneficial to both the living organisms, so called as symbionts.

Mycorrhiza is a type symbiotic association between the fungi and the seed bearing plants. Such an association is noticed in plants such as pine, Oak, Eucalyptus and Orchids. Another type of symbiotic association is the legume rhizobium symbiosis. Here the Rhizobium produces nodules in the root of leguminous plants and fixes nitrogen present in the atmosphere. Eg: Peas, Groundnut.
