The Cytotaxonomy is a branch of science that utilizes the cytological information’s such as the number of chromosomes, structure and behavior etc. The cytological features help in understanding the evolution and relationship of certain plants. Each plant possesses certain cytological features by which a plant species can be easily recognized. The cytological data is having more significance over the other taxonomic evidences. In short the cytological studies are enough to solve many phylogenetic disputes. For example the monocots have got large sized chromosomes than the dicot members.
