Hyphae is a single filament of fungi. Hyphae grow by enlongating at the tips. Each part of a hypha is capable of growth.

Hyphae are:

  1. Septate: Divided by cross walls
  2. Aseptate: Lacks cross walls

Mycelium

Mycelium is a large, filamentous mass made up of many hyphae. It consists of many hyphae inter-woven together to form a network.

Mycelia are:

  1. Aerial: Growing in the air
  2. Vegetative: Absorbs nutrients
