It is a gill pattern obtained when a mushroom cap is placed on paper as if the gill side down so that the spore from the gills fall on the paper and an exact replica of the gill is obtained on the paper. This is kept for a day in a dish so as to eliminate the air current. Spore print can be made permanent by the application of little clear varnish or shellac.
