Pectin is the complex polysaccharide present in the cell wall of the plants. They can satisfy many needful functions such as the wall porosity, cell-cell adhesion, growth regulators, leaf abscission etc. The flexibility of the cell wall of the cell is due to the presence of pectic substances.
