Plant metabolism is the sum of the anabolism or the biosynthesis and the catabolism or the degradation. The building up of the complex molecules called as the anabolism and the breaking down of the complex molecule into simpler with the release of energy is known as the catabolism. The process of anabolism and catabolism together is known as the metabolism of plants.
