Micronutrients are the elements which are needed in very small quantities. Since they are needed in minor quantities they are also known as the micro elements. The important micro elements are; Magnesium, Manganese, Iron, Copper, Zinc, Boron etc.

Some of the importances are:

  1. Magnesium plays a very essential role in the photosynthesis and the carbohydrate metabolism. Since Magnesium is present in the chlorophyll which is essential for photosynthesis.
  2. Iron is very important for the metabolisms of the plant.
  3. Copper is present in the chloroplast so essential for photosynthesis.
  4. Zinc plays an important role in the biosynthesis for example for the protein synthesis.
  5. Molybdenum helps in the nitrate assimilation and the nitrogen fixation processes.
