The main requirements for the formation of the somatic embryos are:

  1. The amount of the auxin concentration should be high for the embryo induction.
  2. The auxin concentration is reduced for the growth and development of the embryo.
  3. The presence of the phyto hormones gibberellins and the ethylene inhibits the somatic embryogenesis.
  4. Temperature, light, extracts (Coconut water) etc. favours the embryogenesis.
  5. Presence of nitrogen is another important factor needed for initiation of embryogenesis.
  6. The callus from the young part of the plants is usually more efficient.
