Gene

Gene is a specific segment of DNA molecule which determines the inheritance and expression of a particular character.

Gene can also be defined as a specific segment of DNA molecule that codes for a polypeptide.

Codon

The smallest sequence of nitrogen bases (nucleotides) on the m-RNA which can specify one amino acid is called a codon.

Each codon consists of three successive bases (nucleotides) present on the m-RNA.
