Sulphur or Sulfur (S) in plants

Sulphur is the constituent of some amino acids and not mobile in plants.

Sulphur contributes to smell and taste of vegetables.

It is also present as a part of vitamin-B1 (thiamine) and biotin, also required for many co-enzymes.

It is absorbed as SO4 ion from the soil.

Deficiency symptoms of this mineral are as follows:

  2. Yellowing of young leaves (show chlorosis first)
