Somaclonal variations are a genetic variation that appears in the clones which are produced as a result of invitro culture. This variation is due to the changes in the chromosome number and cytological heterogeneity in cultures which arises due to the factors such as:

  • By culture condition which brings about genetic changes like polyploidy, aneuploidy etc.
  • The explants may possess the genetic disorders.
