The phosphodiester bonds link successive nucleotide unit. These nucleotides covalently linked through the “phosphate-group bridge”, where the 5’-phosphate group of one nucleotide unit and the 3’- hydroxyl group of the next nucleotide, creates a phosphodiester linkage.
