WHAT CAUSES MALE INFERTILITY?

Infertility refers to the failure of couples to achieve a viable pregnancy in spite of regular unprotected sexual intercourse.

The reasons for Infertility could be many i.e., physical, psychological congenital, diseases/infections, drugs/alcohol/ smoking, immunological etc.

The problem of infertility could be with woman, with man and in some cases, both the man and woman may be infertile

Male infertility may be due to the following reasons:

1. There is low sperm counts

2. Quality of sperm is poor (abnormal sperm)

3. Blocked sperm duct/vas deference, as sperm is being blocked from being released into the vagina

4. Other cases of male infertility may include

  • Diseases/infections
  • Drugs/alcohol/smoking
  • Older age
  • Retrograde ejaculation - semen  is redirected to the urinary bladder
  • Erectile dysfunction (impotence)
  • And other psychological, congenital, and environmental factors of infertility etc.
