An ecological pyramid is graphical representation through which relationship is expressed in terms of number, biomass, biomass productivity or energy at each trophic level in a given ecosystem. While the base of pyramid represents the producers or the first trophic level the apex of pyramid shows tertiary or top level consumer.

The three ecological pyramids are (a) pyramid of number; (b) pyramid of biomass and (c) pyramid of energy.
