What is the function of mixed nerve?

The mixed nerves contain both the nerves – the afferent nerves as well as the efferent nerves. Hence they function like afferent and efferent nerves at the same time i.e. it carries the impulse from the receptor organ to the central nervous system and takes back the signal or command to that particular organ.
