Protoplasm:

  2. It is a colloidal, complex, elastic, viscous, granular and colourless substance present in the cell. It is selectively or differentially permeable.
  3. It is the living substance of the cell.

Cytoplasm:

  1. Cytoplasm is the jelly-like, semi-solid substance found around the nucleus and inside the plasma membrane.
  2. It consists of aqueous ground substance called cytoplasmic matrix or cytosol.
  3. It is differentiated into outer ectoplasm and inner endoplasm.
  4. It is made up of 90% water and forms about half of the cell’s volume.
  5. Cytoplasmic matrix is composed of sugars, amino acids, vitamins, proteins, nucleotides, t-RNA and enzymes.
