Biofertilizers are the Nitrogen fixing microorganisms which add nitrogen in the form of nitrates to the soil thereby increasing the soil fertility. They increase the yield of the crop, are eco-friendly and are naturally available source of fertilizers and are renewable.

The main biofertilizers are:

  1. Bacteria: Rhizobium, Azotobacter
  2. Cyanobacteria: Anabaena, Nostoc
  3. Fungi: Mycorrhizae (Both ectotrophic and endotrophic)
