Turgor pressure is a hydrostatic pressure exerted on the elastic cell wall as a result of the endosmosis in the cell. The process of endosmosis resulting in the cell becoming turgid.
The cell wall of plants exert equal and opposite pressure to the turgor pressure, this is known as the wall pressure. The process of endosmosis ceases when the turgor pressure becomes equal to the wall pressure. The turgor pressure is responsible for the growth and enlargement of the cell.
