why is "endarch" supposed to be the arrangement of stem and not roots ?

  1. In stems, the protoxylem lies towards the centre (pith) and metaxylem lies towards the periphery.
    This type of primary xylem is called endarch.
  2. In root, the protoxylem lies towards the periphery and metaxylem lies towards the centre.
    Such arrangement is called exarch.
  3. Thus, endarch is the arrangement of stem and not roots.
