The higher monocarboxylic acids containing carbon carbon multiple bond are known as unsaturated fatty acids.

The fatty acids have double bonds in carbon atoms.

They have lower melting points mostly found in plant fats and liquid at room temperature.

Examples: Oleic acid, Linolenic acid, Arachidonic acid etc.
