The important functions of the vascular tissues are:

  1. The xylem vessels and the tracheids conduct water and dissolved minerals in the upward direction.
  2. The xylem parenchyma cells are concerned with the storage of the starch.
  3. The walls of the xylem cells are thick and so they give mechanical support.
  4. The phloem cells are concerned with the conduction of the organic food.
