The ground tissue system of leaves is also known as mesophyll tissue. The mesophyll tissue is differentiated into two. They are the palisade tissue and the spongy cells. The palisade mesophylls are found beneath the upper epidermis. They are elongated or columnar cells arranged at right angled to the epidermis.
