Viruses have nothing of their own except the genetic material. Virus are INERT carriers of the genome since they need a host cell for reproduction.

An infectious virus particle that is designed for the transmission of nucleic acid genome (DNA or RNA) into the host cell is called a Virion.

Virion is the infectious form of a virus.
