After copulation, queen starts laying eggs, one in each cell. Larvae hatch after 3 days. The larvae are fed by nursery bees. A larvae receives royal jelly, others receive normal diet. The royal jelly is made up of digested honey and pollen mixed with saliva into the mouth of the worker.

After five days of feeding, the cell is sealed and larvae undergo pupation. Each one spins a thin silken cocoon and undergoes pupation. A worker emerges after 21 days, a drone emerges after 24 days, and a queen emerges after 16 days from pupa.
