Mechanical Digestion:

Muscular layer of stomach shows vigorous churning movements which bring about mechanical digestion of food. It also gets properly mixed with the gastric juices.

Chemical Digestion:

The HCl released by gastric glands convert pepsinogen into active pepsin and prorenin into rennin.

Acidic pH helps in action of gastric enzymes.

1. Proteins -----Pepsin---> Proteoses + Peptones

2. Fats -----Gastric Lipase---> Fatty acids + Glycerol

3. Casein-----Rennin---> Paracasein -----Ca2 + salts---> Ca2+ paracaseinate -----Pepsin---> Proteoses + Peptones
