Antidiuretic hormone (ADH) is the hormone produced by the hypothalamus and released by the posterior pituitary.

It stimulates reabsorption of water by kidneys and dilutes the blood (decreasing the concentrations of solutes such as sodium)

ADH increases the permeability of the distal tubules and collecting ducts and promotes the reabsorption of water from the renal filtrate.
