The autonomic nervous system comprises of the sympathetic nervous system and the parasympathetic nervous system.

The function of autonomic nervous system is regulation of internal body organs like beating of heart beats digestion, salivation, sweating etc.

Sympathetic nervous system – it is associated with 3F’s i.e. fear, fight, flight. Sympathetic nervous system deals in stimulating activities arising from fear, fight and flight.

Parasympathetic nervous system – it deals with stimulating the activities of internal body organs when the body is at rest, like digestion, urination.
