The Greenhouse effect refers to the phenomenon of retention of the earth’s heat by the atmosphere.

The gases that prevent the heat from escaping the earth are called as Greenhouse gases.

The most important greenhouse gases are: Carbon Dioxide, Methane, Nitrogen Oxide, Ozone, Chlorofluorocarbons, Florine, and Carbon Monoxide.
