  1. Ultraviolet B are high energy radiations of short wavelength (100-390 nm) coming from the sun on the earth.
  2. They are blocked by the ozone layer present in the stratosphere of the atmosphere.
  3. However, due to the depletion of the ozone layer by Chloroflurocarbons (CFCs), the amount of UV-B radiations reaching the earth have increased.
  4. This has lead to increased skin cancer, cataract and several other health issues.
