Photosynthetic pigments in red algae.

The main photosynthetic pigments present in red algae are phycoerythrine and phycocyanin. The phycoerythrin gives the red colour and the phycocyanin gives the blue colour. The red algae contain the r-type phycoerythrine and phycocyanin.
