  1. Medical treatment of AIDS comprises of antiviral therapy against the HIV virus and immune-stimulative therapy which boost the number of disease resistant cells in the body.
  2. The groups of drugs include protease inhibitors, reverse transcriptase inhibitors and DNA synthesis inhibitors.
  3. The drug Azithmidine or Zidovudine binds to reverse transcriptase enzyme and prolongs life.
  4. Ribovirin, Nevirapine and Lamivudine are the other drugs used.
