  1. DNA fingerprinting or DNA typing used for the identification of individuals. It is used in forensic sciences, immigration cases, study of population and ecological genetics, in the case of disputed parentage and to confirm the cell line identity.
  2. Gene Therapy: It involves the treatment of genetic disease by replacing the defective gene by a normal one. Used in the treatment of several diseases such as SCID (Severe combined immunodeficiency), Cystic fibrosis, Sickle cell anemia.
